2 Behavioral Drug Options

  • -

Behavioral disorder symptoms can be calmed with the help of coping mechanisms and counseling, but in most cases behavioral drugs are required to assist. Below are the two most commonly used behavioral drugs.

1. Ritalin – The most commonly used psychostimulant, Ritalin is used to increase the activity of the central nervous system. By doing so, the drug enhances the alertness and attention of the patient. Due to its encouragement of the nervous system, Ritalin has also been used in patients suffering from narcolepsy, as the drug has been shown to decrease fatigue.

2. Adderall – Adderall is considered the successful substitute for Ritalin. Considered to be more effective and longer-lasting than Ritalin, Adderall is proven to be effective at reducing fatigue while increasing alertness and cognitive performance. Adderall has shown some adverse side effects of addiction due to the euphoric sensation brought on by one of its components.

Behavioral drugs should be taken only if prescribed by a doctor. Consult a counselor or psychiatrist if you are concerned you may be suffering from ADHD.
