When a prescription drug is not prescribed to you, it will most likely be harmful. Partaking of these drugs, despite their seemingly positive or euphoric effects, can cause severe issues in the near to late future. Stimulant drugs have become an issue lately due to their immediate effects of providing focus for college students during crunch time. Here is a short list of those related drugs and the dangerous side effects associated with them.
Ephedrine – This drug is most commonly misused in order to stay awake and alert for long periods of time. The possible negative side effects of abusing Ephedrine are strokes and heart attacks.
Ritalin – One of the most commonly known drugs used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder in children, this drug is misused by college students and adults to bring about acute awareness and sometimes euphoria. However, if the drug is abused, it can cause strokes, heart attacks, seizures, and liver damage.
Adderall – One of the more popular abused drugs out now for college students, this drug helps increase concentration and cognitive performance in the short term, used primarily for ADHD. While helpful in the short term to be more efficient in cramming for an exam, when this drug is abused it can cause many of the aforementioned ailments, but also has been known to be a powerful gateway drug. This stimulant drug, able to cause significant damage on its own, can also lead to more extreme, illegal drug use such as cocaine and heroin.
