Watch what you eat. It’s important to eat regularly to prevent your blood sugar from lowering, which can cause moodiness. Keep healthy snacks available so that if you start to feel hungry you have something nutritious to reach for. You may also want to avoid too much sugar which can give you an immediate rush, but will leave you feeling sluggish shortly after. Also, adding protein to your diet will help increase energy and alertness.
Get going. Exercise is a great way to boost your mood naturally. Try making time for yourself to go on a walk, go to the gym or join a class you enjoy. Also, if you do an activity outside, the fresh air will also help with your mood. Sunshine, as well as cold weather can work as mood refreshers.
Jam out. Music can be a powerful tool in improving or worsening your mood. Listen to your favorite, upbeat songs to put a little pep in your step.
Do something that makes you happy. This may seem like common sense, but so often we get caught up in our daily routine that we don’t make time for things we enjoy. Try to make some time each week for an activity that makes you happy.
Make a furry friend. Playing with animals has been shown to lower blood pressure and make you feel happier. If you have pets of your own, take some time to play with them, even if just for a few minutes a day. If you don’t own a pet, try visiting a pet store or taking your friend’s dog for a walk.
