Baby Steps vs. Cold Turkey

When it comes to conquering addiction, is it better to do baby steps or go cold turkey? These two methods of resolution are often considered a black-and-white distance away from each other, but in actuality both carry qualities of properly removing yourself from the addiction.

Going cold turkey implies that baby steps allow some sort of satisfaction from the addiction, just in smaller amounts. This is an unhealthy way to view it, as technically even within the method of baby steps, you should be cold turkey from the addiction itself. In order to beat addiction, you can’t use the terminology cold turkey or baby steps. Sure, there are phases to beating addiction, but it starts with committing to stopping. You can’t be involved in the addiction anymore, and you have to be willing to take the steps to beat it. Admit the problem, stop the addiction, and get help.
