Clinical depression can be a scary thing. When untreated, the afflicted individual is exposed to the sometimes fatal urges the disorder causes. Other times, compensators are put into place that are sometimes unhealthy or unreliable solutions to the disorder. In either case, proper counseling and care should be sought for anyone suffering from the symptoms of depression.
Depression is a common cause for drug abuse. Drug abuse can often be associated with depression as both the cause and effect of the abuse. Drug abuse is an example of a compensator that is unhealthy and can cause harmful side effects that can be damaging and possibly fatal. If you are experiencing depression and suffering from a drug addiction, it is imperative to seek help.
There are, however, healthy compensators for depression. There are certain drugs that are designed to help with depression that when properly prescribed by a counselor can significantly help with the symptoms of depression. Changes in habits throughout your daily routine and regular therapy can also be a resolution to depression. When closely monitored, depression can be something that is dealt with and hindered on a regular basis.
