The Cake Crime

  • -

In an interesting case, a couple of students from Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek, Arizona reported feeling strangely to administration. The symptoms included elevated heart rate and euphoria. The students were immediately taken to the local hospital where it had been confirmed that they had ingested marijuana. Upon investigation, the students admitted to eating some birthday cake earlier that had been brought in by a peer. The cake had been laced with marijuana and served unbeknownst to the students that partook of the cake. The student responsible was arrested for endangerment charges.

The policy in most school districts is that foods prepared from home are not to be shared with fellow students. Despite this policy, the moral of this story would be to avoid being on the receiving-end of this dessert. In most scenarios, the possibility of a food being laced with an illegal drug is slim. To avoid similar circumstances, it is best to remain hesitant of any snacks or treats laid out at a party, being sure of its contents and ingredients before consumption.
