If you have struggled with addiction before, you know that avoiding certain situations, and often times certain people, is an important key to staying sober. When it comes to avoiding temptation you need to have a game plan.

In the game of football, a game plan is very important to getting to the end zone. In order to win a game, you have to be able to score, and the only way to score is to get into the end zone. There are numerous strategies and play calls used to avoid being tackled by the opposing defense. Trick plays, deep routes or simply running the ball. In order to gain yards you have to get up field using everything you can to avoid the defense.

In the game of life, it takes the same kind of planning and determination to avoid returning to an addiction. You have to plan ahead, stick to your plans and avoid certain situations. Beating an addiction is about taking it one day at a time. You have to take it one play at a time and work your way through the game to get to the end zone.

Everyone likes to win. And there isn’t a much greater feeling than winning against addiction. But in order to win, you must initiate a game plan and take control of the game on your terms.
